WHATDefy is a non-profit film festival that brings defiant films from all over the world to East Nashville.

THE ZINEFor their 10-year anniversary, Defy wanted a zine featuring essays from multimedia writers and artists local to Nashville, with space to thank sponsors. The ask was to go all out on Defy's DIY ethos, so lots of handwritten, messy graphics, and nothing too polished. I shot the cover photography on film as an ode to 90s era zines I grew up with, and I worked directly with writer Mike Lacy to design a collage-style spread for his poem.

EVENT COLLATERALBeyond the zine, I’ve worked with Defy each year since 2021 to design schedule materials, from full booklets to postcards, that balance their bold branding with the need to convey overlapping showtimes across multiple theaters. It was a fun challenge to balance bold + orderly. I landed on a system that allowed for precise timing while still bringing in texture and graphics in the background, and I used their hero colors to differentiate between theaters.
