WHYThe Contributor's previous website (pictured below) was trying to do everything at once: explain their programs, invite involvement, and function as a publication. They didn't want to leave any audience out, but the result was that no one was served particularly well.A snapshot of The Contributor's previous homepage. With so much competing for attention above the fold, it's hard to know where to look or what to do first.
THE REDESIGNThe redesign focused on highlighting the paper, the vendors, and where to buy, surfacing what mattered most and letting everything else follow. Working within a budget that ruled out a full custom rebuild, I restructured the main navigation and content hierarchy to make buying a paper in person more visible and intentional.

I introduced an updated type pairing that modernized the overall feel without requiring a full rebrand, along with a modular design system that makes it easier to maintain and update the site going forward. The result is a cleaner, more intentional website that's easier to navigate for both readers and staff.
